Anyone on here do parkrun?

Just wondered if anyone does these regular 5K runs held all over the country at 9am every Saturday? Apparently about 50,000 runners of all types regularly participate in the UK.
I got hooked on it nearly three years ago and my regular course is Southampton. Great fun and a real community spirit about them.

Still waiting for one to start up near me on the Wirral. Can't be arsed to spend too much time travelling for a 5k.
Great concept though. Would even try starting a local one myself if I had the time.
Gonna focus on 5k and 10k this year, won't have time to train for longer distances, new baby due in the next few days.

Southampton parkrun is my usual. PB of 18:40, which is not bad for a 51 year old. Have now done over 110 and am going to do Bushy Park this weekend. Yes, I'm a parkrun bore!

I do them fairly regularly, will start again now in lead up to London Marathon. Great opportunity for speedwork.
Hackney Marshes is a fast course... 16:50 PB

Do the Ilford one often, fairly easy. Hardest one I've done is the Harrow Lodge, fucking hilly and run completely on grass.
Best is 22.45

Been doing it every year since 2005 when it was Bushy Park Time trial.
Done over 110 now, done nearly 50 different courses now. Had two sub 21 minute runs in that time, I actaually walked for a bit towards the end of my PB.
Had a couple of injuries in the last two years and now hovering around the 23 minute mark.
Having run so many different events I got a feel for roughly what position I would finish by looking around at the start and seeing what I'm up against.
Some events have a VERY high standard of athlete, some are just people doing it for fun...
Went to one event thought I might make top ten which I'd done a few times before, after 1km I'm in the lead (or so I think). Go round, nobody overtakes me, FUCKING HELL I'VE COME FIRST.
Turns out there was a bloke in a wheelchair in front. The only time I've seen somebody in a wheelchair at a parkrun and he steals my glory.
Bastard.
The bloke who came up with the idea of Parkrun recently deservedly got a CBE, he has done a lot for grass roots athletics everywhere, not just in this country. Top bloke.

I know a few West Ham supporters that do them, especially now there's a Brentwood one.
I've swapped running for cycling and from the Spring onwards I'll be doing the equivalent Skyrides. The one from Seven Kings Park out into Essex past Epping looks good. There's also a monthly 35 miler that starts by Bobby's statue at Wembley.
